Bushy ark

An assortment of shots from today; all taken at Bushy Park, near Hampton Court. The Royal Parks form a rare haven for wildlife in the Greater London area. In flight we have a pair of mating Sympetrums and a single Aeshna. The deer is a dark form of the Fallow Deer.

I went for a walk around the local area today, as I tend to do every so often. There's more info about the shots themselves in the picture comments :) Interesting local history info on St Johns and Hook Heath. All shots taken with my ZN5 cameraphone once again.

It's the end of the native orchid season here now, Autumn Lady's Tresses (Spiranthes spiralis) is the last species that'll flower this year. It's a pretty and delicate little flower, the entire spike is usually only around 5cm (2in) tall; in very favourable conditions they may grow to 20cm, but even then the individual florets will still only be a millimetre or two across. Thinking inside the box

This is the first vegetable box we've tried, and I have to say we're happy with it so far. It came from Secretts in Sutton Green (near Woking/Guildford). This is their £5 version, they also do a £10 box. Most is grown at the main Secretts site just a few miles away in Milford. Annotated in the notes.
