Thanks to everyone for playing the game and well done to you all for doing so well; I thought there were some quite tough ones in there. That said, it's Hats Off To Juan who scored a magnificent 10/10. Very well done. OK here are the answers:

1. The guts of a very old, very cheap, and horribly dirty wrist watch
2. Pumpkin seeds
3. Prickly pear
4. Bubble from a spirit level
5. Filament of an halogen bulb
6. Thermometer – don’t worry this dirty old thing isn’t used medically - it just sits in my shed.
7. Conker, aka Horse Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum)
8. This stumped almost everyone. It is balsamic vinegar suspended in olive oil. It’s an absolute bugger to shoot. You probably don’t notice when dipping your ciabatta in it, but it is almost constantly moving about like a little larva lamp. Sometimes it seems to form very neat rounded globules, then something happens and it seems to dissipate. I found it strangely fascinating and more than a little frustrating. This was the sharpest of over a dozen attempts.
9. Fern leaves – sorry I have no idea what type, it’s just the one that sits on out kitchen window sill
10. Distance setting marks on a lens. Well done to Stefan for correctly getting the make.

revenant Goodie, I have missed these. Unfortunately no one here to help out at present. This being half-term, I expect to see kid emerging from crypt some time in the early afternoon. So the following guesses are mine and mine alone.
1. Insides of quartz watch
2. Orange pips
3. Pomegranate
4. Spirit level - quite a small one, I suspect
5. Filament, but from which bulb?
6. Blood sample, in keeping with the Hallowe'en spirit
7. Chestnut, a.k.a conker
8. The decisive moment when the female camel is impregnated, although I do NOT want to know how you took this shot
9. Fern leaf
10. The distance index on a Canon lens.

This concludes the voting from the Provençal jury

SO here are my guesses:

1. It is from a watch! it is on the back-part! =)

3. I might say a red potatoe or a cap from a deadly mushroom!
4. level bubble (i'm not sure if is like this in english)
5. Neon lighty tube? LOL
6. maybe face blood in a tube? XD
7. chestnut, probably an Aesculus hippocastanum that is kinda dangerous if you eat! or an European Chestnut! I cant say exactly by the angle, but i'd go to Aesculus hippocastanum
8. some weird thing!XDXD maybe some drink?
9. Or a Fern leaf, or some plant from Mimosaceae Family! =)
10. Lens from camera! =)

lookagain Oh, these are such incredible macro images, Jon. I'm always glad to come in when there are several posts already because I'm hopeless at guessing.....was pretty sure about #s 2 and 9. Interesting to read the answers posted, because occasionally it seems that people tend to see things differently depending on the part of the world they come from....
